This practical blended online course equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to recognise, approach, and support colleagues who may be experiencing mental health challenges. Participants learn how to identify common signs of mental health problems, start supportive conversations, and guide someone towards appropriate professional help while maintaining their own wellbeing.
The course consists of self-paced e-learning modules followed by two interactive instructor-led online workshops. Designed specifically for workplace settings, the course helps organisations build mentally healthy cultures, reduce stigma, and strengthen early intervention skills across teams. No prior experience is required, and participants leave with practical tools they can use immediately to support others at work.
It includes:
• Recognising signs and symptoms
Learn how to identify the early indicators of common mental health challenges in adults.
• Open and supportive communication
Develop skills to have compassionate, non‑judgmental conversations about mental health.
• The MHFA ALGEE Action Plan
Use a practical, evidence‑based five‑step action plan to guide your response and support someone toward appropriate help.
• Support through challenges and crises
Understand how to assist people experiencing a range of situations such as:
Depression and anxiety
Psychosis
Problematic substance use
Non‑suicidal self‑injury
Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
Panic attacks and trauma‑related distress
• Encouraging help‑seeking and recovery
Learn how to assist people to access professional and community‑based supports safely and effectively.
