This two‑day Standard MHFA Aotearoa course teaches participants how to recognise and respond to adults experiencing mental health challenges or crisis. It includes:
• Recognising signs and symptoms
Learn how to identify the early indicators of common mental health challenges in adults.
• Open and supportive communication
Develop skills to have compassionate, non‑judgmental conversations about mental health.
• The MHFA ALGEE Action Plan
Use a practical, evidence‑based five‑step action plan to guide your response and support someone toward appropriate help.
• Support through challenges and crises
Understand how to assist people experiencing a range of situations such as:
Depression and anxiety
Psychosis
Problematic substance use
Non‑suicidal self‑injury
Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
Panic attacks and trauma‑related distress
• Encouraging help‑seeking and recovery
Learn how to assist people to access professional and community‑based supports safely and effectively.
